UAHuntsville Superlatives
UAHuntsville has the largest research expenditures in the nation - more than $65 million when compared to all public universities of its size (~ 7,500 students.) Much of it in partnership with industry, NASA, the U.S. Army and other Department of Defense agencies.
UAHuntsville ranks second to Georgia Tech in annual research expenditures as a percentage of total expenditures when compared to the 31 universities in the Southern University Group.
UAHuntsville is the first university in the United States to have Oak Ridge National Laboratory operate offices on their campus. This effort will also bring UAHuntsville and this community into closer collaboration with other world-class research institutions — Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Security Complex, among others.
UAHuntsville was among 17 research organizations and universities in the nation invited to join the National Systems Engineering Research Center, an organization created by the Department of Defense and the National Security Agency.
UAHuntsville has signed a pioneering research collaboration agreement with an aerospace giant — Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. This agreement will allow both of us to leverage and strengthen the research, education, innovation and strategic missions of the two organizations. This move will play an increasingly important role in defining industry-university partnerships for the future.
UAHuntsville is listed as "Very Competitive" by Barron's Profiles of American Colleges, the only public university in Alabama to receive this rating.
UAHuntsville has been named as one of "America's 100 Best College Buys" for 13 consecutive years.
U. S. News & World Report ranks UAHuntsville in the top 10 percent in the nation in Business Administration and in the top 15 percent internationally.
Four UAHuntsville research disciplines rank in the top 50 in the nation in federal research funding, according to the National Science Foundation. UAHuntsville's atmospheric science program was 19th in the nation in funding, followed by computer science at 20th, mechanical engineering at 26th, and electrical engineering at 49th.
UAHuntsville consistently ranks among the top 20 universities in the nation for awarding bachelor's engineering degrees to women, according to the American Society of Engineering Educators.
UAHuntsville's library has more than 400,000 volumes available for public use.
UAHuntsville consistently ranks among the top schools in the nation in NASA research funding to universities.
UAHuntsville is the lead institution and is home to the National Space Science and Technology Center, a national research laboratory consortium.
UAHuntsville’s College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, International. AACSB-International is the premier agency for accrediting business programs, accrediting only the top 15 percent of business schools worldwide.
